While you don’t need affirmations required to shift, they make it easier and help you cultivate your belief.

When done properly, using positive affirmations are great for shifting and elevating your mood. I can attest to this. I’ve been using affirmations for more than ten years

Affirmations can be stated out loud, physically written, typed, or thought of.

My personal favorite way to use affirmations is to physically write them in my shifting journal before I go to sleep. Years ago I read this was effective for reprogramming your subconscious mind for manifesting, but I have also found it helpful for shifting.

Clear your mind

Affirmations are most effective when you aren’t mentally focused on anything else.

So you will want to have a clear mind before you use affirmations. I know this can be easier said than done, but try to do the best you can.

To help you out, here is my personal, time-tested method for how I clear my mind:

  1. Get comfortable and take deep breaths, breathing in and out through the nose.
  2. Slowly, count from 10 backwards to 1 in your mind a few times. This should help you relax.
  3. Turn your focus towards your breathing.
  4. If any non-shifting or non-affirmation thoughts enter your mind, don’t resist them. Instead just let them pass on by and turn your attention back on your breathing.
  5. After doing this for an amount of time, your mind should now be clear.

Use your shifting affirmations

Now that your mind is as clear as possible, it’s time to start using your affirmations!

All you have to do now is focus on your affirmations (with feeling) while writing them out, saying them, or whichever way you chose from the two steps ago.

Ask yourself, how would you feel if the affirmation was true right now? Capture that feeling, charge it up from within, and let your emotion flow through you. If you are using any shifting methods, do this part when the method instructions recommend for you to use affirmations.
